Welcome to my site where you can find out more about my MLA work on your behalf in the Northern Ireland Assembly, and contact me about your issues, or with ideas about what you would like to see improved in the Lagan Valley constituency I am proud to represent.
My entire working life until now has been in small business, based in Lisburn. I didn’t get involved in politics for a new career, my involvement really came about from my volunteering in the community and wanting our kids to have the opportunities and choices to excel here at home.
I first started out in my own business in 1996, and I’ve been fortunate enough to win different business awards over the years, including the Young Innovation Business Award for the development of a new product for commercial /hospitality buildings. This was exported across the UK and Ireland as well as to the Netherlands, with premium customers ranging from Hilton Hotels to Virgin.
As a committed environmentalist, more recently my business has been developing housing and innovating building techniques to provide energy efficient homes.
I was first elected to Lisburn & Castlereagh Council in 2019, with the brief of Communities alongside Economic Development and then to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2022. What I want to do is bring my skills and experiences, particularly of innovation and openness, to the political arena.
I am also heavily involved in the community through sport, initially with rugby and more recently with Glenavy GAC.
After the 2022 election, I was appointed the Alliance Party’s sport spokesperson, and I want to use that role to increase participation, use sport as a means of enhancing community relations, and to emphasise the health and well-being benefits of sporting activity.
I’m married to Elaine and we have two kids, Tim who is currently studying in Loughborough University and Emma who is in Upper Sixth.
Most of all, I am here to give a voice to those most vulnerable and creating opportunities alongside protections for business owners to expand and create jobs. We urgently need action to improve our economy, our health service, our education system and the environment around us.
If you have any ideas, concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
